  2. Total cost considers execution commission and FX conversion costs charged by the providers, including FX spread applied. In the case of IBKR, and some other providers where readily disclosed, we have also included regulatory, clearing and exchange fees that are passed through to the client on a transactional basis for US stock purchases. Some providers charge a custody fee which has not been included here (note IBKR does not charge custody fees). For comparison purposes, all figures are shown in AUD, and where the providers, including IBKR, quote fees in USD, these are converted to AUD. The USD/AUD FX rate we used in the comparison table is 1.48965 (AUD/USD = 0.671294)
  3. IBKR, tiered stock commissions of USD 0.0035 per share (for the lowest tier) (with min USD 0.35 per order and max 1% of trade value per order) plus relevant exchange, regulatory and clearing fees. IBKR’s FX fee quotes the total automated currency conversion service rate of 0.03%. Client initiated standalone FX conversion commissions are 0.0022%, with a minimum of USD 2.20 (inclusive of GST where applicable). Note IBKR do not apply any additional FX spread on the prevailing FX rate for client initiated FX conversions. Full rate card is available by visiting IBKR Commissions.
  4. Saxo's VIP account type used. Minimum US stock commission is USD 1.00 per order for all account tiers. 0.25% is the maximum spread Saxo apply.
  5. WeBull’s Regular and Extended Trading hours fee is applied at USD 0.0035 times trade value.
  6. 0.60% is the maximum spread CMC apply.
  7. Assuming IG Markets automated FX conversion rates.
  8. Superhero charge 0.01% of trade value with a minimum USD 2.00 per trade.
  9. Stake charge 0.01% of trade value with a minimum USD 3.00 per trade.
  10. NABTrade charge tiered fee starting at AUD 9.95 per trade up to 0.11% of trade value for trades over AUD 20,000. NABTrade also apply an FX spread between 0.50% and 0.80%.
  11. Selfwealth charge flat fee of USD 9.50 per trade and 0.60% FX spread.
  12. Westpac Online charge tiered fee starting at USD 19.95 per trade up to 0.31% of trade value for trades over USD 10,000.

Commissions on Western European stocks is just €3/£3 per trade for typical trade sizes. For larger trades (those over €6000/£6000) the cost is .05% of trade value.

Commissions range from USD 0.0005 to USD 0.0035 per share on US stocks and include the IB SmartRoutingSM system. IB SmartRoutingSM helps support best execution by searching for the best available prices for stocks, options and combinations across exchanges and dark pools. Also, it continuously evaluates changing market conditions and dynamically re-routes all or parts of your order.
